  • Exhaust air system – turnkey and compact

Krantz presents the mobile SmartRTO system at the 6th workshop on clean air solutions in Aachen.

"As individual as our customers are, our systems are just as individual," says Stefan Gores, Divisional Manager at Krantz Clean Air Solutions. The 57-year-old mechanical engineer designs, builds and markets highly functional exhaust air systems for industry, together with 25 other members of staff. The systems are used by manufacturers in various sectors that produce exhaust air streams with solvent emissions: printers, abrasives manufacturers, paint shops, computer chip manufacturers - to name just a few examples. For each customer, the team creates a tailor-made solution corresponding to their particular circumstances and requirements, such as the volume and degree of contamination of the air to be cleaned. Thresholds for such emissions are often specified legislatively. "We design each system individually - this is a core competence that our customers really value. The disadvantage: tailor-made solutions require many resources. But given that in some cases a standard solution may be perfectly sufficient and is often less expensive for our customers, we have developed one," says Gores.

To this end, at the 6th workshop on thermal clean air solutions at the beginning of November, Gores presented an innovative standard solution to industry experts and potential customers alike: the SmartRTO (Regenerative Thermal Oxidiser). This new thermal regenerative post-combustion system brings with it a whole range of advantages that the development team at Krantz Clean Air Solutions is quite proud of. "On the one hand, we can offer the SmartRTO at a better price than on previous smaller systems because the individual design is no longer necessary and we reduce the production costs through standardized components. Moreover, we can transport the turnkey SmartRTO easily because of its small footprint on the road, the train or the ship. And because the system is already being commissioned in our production halls, the on-site assembly is done quickly," says Gores. Likewise, the delivery time is significantly reduced.

"The modular principle offers great market potential, especially in China, as the government in Beijing wants to curb air pollution. That's why we've been successfully marketing SmartRTOs there through a licensee," says Gores. Initially, only the prototype was produced in Germany, but already there are numerous interested customers. This is because Krantz has maintained a stellar reputation for reliability and energy efficiency in sophisticated exhaust air systems.
